OUR HISTORY

The Meadowgreen Foundation was set up as a Christian charitable trust in 1985 to provide community services to the Meadowgreen area of Troon. The existing community centre, opened in 1988 and extended in 2003, comprises a multi-purpose room, art room, office, kitchen, entrance area and toilets. There is also an external area.

The Meadowgreen Foundation was governed by a group of local trustees who oversaw all aspects of the operations at the Meadowgreen Centre.
Until 2018, children’s services including pre-school, after school care and toddlers group meant that, for the most part, the Centre provided a ‘child-focussed’ environment. The trustees believed that further extension to allow additional services was required.

In 2015 Café 141 was completed next to the centre. This new facility allowed us to reinforce the community focus in the area, which includes local shops, doctor’s surgery and a pharmacy.

In June 2018 the trustees of the Meadowgreen Foundation, took the decision not to go ahead with Pre-School registration for the 2018/19 term which resulted in the closure of the Pre-School service at the end of June 2018. The decision was taken following many difficulties in meeting the staffing and government requirements for the coming years. After school services also ceased in 2018. Since then many new activities have been held in the centre for all ages.

In 2023 the Meadowgreen Foundation was gifted to Seagate Church in Troon with the charitable status dissolved. Seagate Church are committed to continuing the charitable work at the Centre and Café, as well as growing Christian ministries in the area.
