What We Believe

CORE VISION

Seagate Evangelical Church seeks to be a community of Christian believers, striving and encouraging one another, through the power and work of the Holy Spirit, towards a deeper relationship with God and His son Jesus Christ as revealed to us in the Bible – the holy and unerring inspired word of God.

Knowing that we are saved by faith alone, through grace alone, by God alone.

The practical outworking of our faith being that we seek to be a people who are spiritually mature and wholly committed to living lives that are worthy of the wonderful Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1 v 27).

As such the church should be a place of comfort but where we should never simply be comfortable, where we should find rest but never rest on our past achievements and where we should find a home in the community of believers but where we never fail to point people to their true home and their true Saviour.

“We our passionate about setting our vision by the field and not the barn in the hope that we will be a church who look to reach the world for the Gospel through Troon.”

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe that there is only one true God and that he is the loving creator of the world. He not only created the world, He created everything in it, including humanity who he made in his own image.

We believe that every man and woman instead of obeying our loving creator God rejects him in favour of living our life our own way without any thought for God. The penalty for our rejection is death and judgment and our sin results in us being separated from God’s presence.

However, we believe there is Good News through God’s son Jesus Christ. That through faith in Jesus Christ, His perfect life on earth, His death on the cross and His resurrection, we are instead of death and judgment graciously offered forgiveness from our sins, the promise of new life and complete reconciliation with our loving God and Father.

We believe that, through Christ, God can be known as our heavenly Father and that through the Holy Spirit we may trust, love and worship him.

We believe that the Bible is God’s holy, inspired and unerring word, and that through it God teaches us what to believe about him and how to live for him and live lives that are worthy of the good news Jesus came to proclaim.

We believe that the world’s greatest need is simply to hear and respond to this amazing and life changing good news. That is why we want to tell others about Jesus and grow disciples who know Jesus deeply and whose daily and simple lives of obedience point others to Him and shine his light in this world.
